Isn’t it amazing how a beautiful surf day in Hawaii can turn catastrophic? That’s exactly what happened to Bethany Hamilton at the age of thirteen. On October 31, 2003 Bethany was attacked by a 14 foot tiger shark which ended in the loss of over 60% of her blood and her left arm. After many surgeries and only a month after her attack Bethany continued on the road to becoming a professional surfer. Now at the age of 20 Bethany is a professional surfer and wishes to become a beacon of hope and inspiration to children everywhere. Millions were and still continue to be touched by Bethany’s story. On October 24th Bethany told her life story in her autobiography called “Soul Surfer.” Recently Soul Surfer has been made into a major motion picture and is premiering April 10th. Staring AnnaSophia Robb as Bethany Hamilton, this movie is said to be an absolute hit, pushing an “anything is possible” attitude towards children of all ages.
