The Royal Wedding

The Royal Wedding is just days away. On Friday, April 29th Kate Middleton will marry the Prince of Wales, William. From the proposal the two have been busy from what they will wear to music and food. Every last detail will count, as the whole world will tune in on Friday. Many famous guests will arrive at Westminster Abby. An itinerary from People Magazine was released sometime last week. Everything is timed perfectly from the exact moment they kiss to when each guest arrives. This wedding is sure to be Royal and perfect. After months it’s right around the corner. Many souvenirs have already been release, it's kind of' silly, if you ask me, from a doll that looks exactly like Kate Middleton to tea bags of the couple. England will be in for a full day. The couple finalizes music, food, and last minute things this week and last. News reporters from all over the world will be attending to capture every moment of the two, from the ceremony to the reception it will not be missed from the camera. As weeks tune down to the Wedding there has been much going on. The Queen had lunch with Kate Middleton's Parents. Prince Harry has been promoted to Captain and there have been numerous rehearsals to make sure everything goes smooth as possible.  Everyone will tune in to watch history take place in England.

The Bird that Couldn't Fly

As many of ya'll must have heard there is a new movie called Rio out in theaters. The one-and-a-half hour movie was released on April 15th and to my surprise, is number one in the box office. Rio is about a domesticated Macaw by the name of Blu which never learned how to fly. His entire life he had lived a very comfortable life in the small town of Moose Lake, Minnesota with his owner and best friend Linda. Both he and Linda think that he is the last Macaw out there, but they learn that there is another of his kind in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil named Jewel and thus make the decision to go to Brazil to find Blu's future girlfriend in the hopes of propagating the species. However, Blu and Jewel are forced to put their intended romantic relationship aside when they are kidnapped by a group of animal smugglers not long after they meet. With Jewel's streetsmarts and smooth-talking wisecracking city birds, she and Blu escape. Despite Blu's ans Jewel's escape, their kidnappers are still hot on their trail and Blu still doesn't know how to fly. With the help of his new friends, Blu must learn how to fly, evade being re-captured, and return to his best friend and owner, Linda.

Sleigh Bells@ Stubbs

T

his weekend, April 23rd, Saturday, the Sleigh bells played at La Zona Rosa. The show sold out almost immediately, and they performed their latest album, Treats, released May 11th, 2010.
Sleigh Bells, the band of just two people, based in Brooklyn, New York, is composed of Derek E. Miller (songwriter, guitarist, producer) and Alexis Krauss (vocalist).  The band was formed in 2008, and the duo quickly jumped into the studio and threw together their first seven track album, Sleigh Bells.
Their second album, Treats, released in 2010, is an eleven track album, that became popular very quickly, with songs from the album being in shows and movies. One track was in Gossip Girl, one in Skins  (the UK version) and one in a cell phone commercial.

Dont Be a Tattle-Tale!

Spoiler alert!
Glee extra Nicole Crowther was fired for leaking some juicy upcoming Glee news. The tattle-tale tweeted:

“K is PQ and Ka is PK”

Suggesting that Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt, and Dave Karofsky would be named prom Queen and King.  People were outraged that Nicole had the nerve to realease such a Glee secret, ruining the surprise for thousands of people. One person on Nicoles hate list includes producer, Brad Faichuk, who responded to Nicoles tweet by tweeting;

“Who are you to spoil something talented people have spent months to create? Hope you’re qualified to something besides work in entertainment.”

From this its safe to assume that Brad will do his best to make sure Nicole will never even have the possibility to work in the entertainment business.  Nicole had received so much hate mail that she was forced to delete her twitter account. Her final tweet was;

“They are not doing reshoots because of my careless mistake so shut up haters and leave me alone. Grow up a[n]d get a life.”

Welcome to the unemployment line Nicole, you’ll be in it for awhile.

leads really bad ones

Leads
Descriptive- Ever since she was a little girl, Senior Rosalind Faires grew up taking interest in the theater.  Being on stage is amazing for Rosalind.  Getting to live out a childhood dream in real life is like living out a fantasy for her.
“The best part in acting is definitely telling the story” she said.
“I mean basically you get to keep playing pretend even though your grown up you know? Sometimes its mundane situations and sometimes its fantastical but you are getting to live out a life that isnt yours, and you get to share it with the audience, and I think that’s thrilling”.

Direct Quote-
“Getting to live out a live that isn’t yours, and getting to share it with an audience…constantly playing pretend.”
This is Senior Rosalind Faires’s life as an actor…this is Theater.

Startling Statement-
She always knew shed be an actor, but not like this

Interview of an actress

My feature story will be crafted around a young and aspiring actress by the name of Georgia McLeland. McLeland as a matter of fact is a junior here at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy and although she isn't officially a varsity theater student, she is of the their caliber. Talented actress, McLeland has been in acting since 3rd grade and is still a very active actress. Thus, she has taken part in more theatrical productions than she can count. My interview of her was a very enjoyable one as she told me about stories from embarrassing moments to memorable dreams. McLeland is a very exuberant and hyper person which resulted in a very interesting and amusing interview

The Traveling Musician

My feature story is about a musician named Randy Akin, who has been traveling with different bands for about 12-15 years now, performing. My story talks about what his life is like as a traveling musician and what he has experienced and overcome on the road. In my interview with him, he talked about what it is like on the road, the stress, the pressure, and the pure excitement and joy of doing what he loves.

Story of an Actress

My feature story will be about Senior Actress Rosalind Faires. I plan to just tell all about her life and what she does here as an actress. I will also mention many aspects of her acting life.  My interview experience with her was  very good.  She is super nice and gave really well worded answers!  Some questions i asked, like "what was the worst thing thats happened on stage?" and "whats the best part about being an actress?"  allowed me to get really amusing and awesome answers. I know that not all interview experiences will be as great as this one, but hey a girl can dream right?
I owe a thanks to Rosalind  for being such an awesome interviewee.

- a very happy interviewer!(kiaya)  :)

Singing your way to a girl's heart

How does a young adolescent boy ask a girl to the prom? By serenading her of course!

A couple of days ago, an incredibly adorable and thoughtfully romantic song went viral of a young boy by the name of Jason Pitts interrupting a Santa Monica class in order to ask a girl to the prom. The girl, Lianna Cohen was in the middle of her journalism class and when Pitts walked in but she thought nothing of it. However, armed with background singers and a guitar, he then unexpectedly began to sing and she made the shocking realization that he was singing directly at her and thus sank to the floor, unable to contain her laughter (of the shock I suppose). Thankfully, and to the relief of Pitts’ heart I presume, she said yes. Yesterday, the new young prom couple appeared on ABC News’, Good Morning America where Pitts, along with his background singers, he re-sang the song that won over Lianna Cohen’s heart. Coincidentally and a bit ironically, they were also told that they were invited to attend the premiere showing of the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures movie production, PROM, which is about high school students trying to find the perfect date, and the perfect outfit and the perfect theme, for your high school Prom.

Soul Surfer

Isn’t it  amazing how a beautiful surf day in Hawaii can turn catastrophic? That’s exactly what happened to Bethany Hamilton at the age of thirteen. On October 31, 2003 Bethany was attacked by a 14 foot tiger shark which ended in the loss of over 60% of her blood and her left arm. After many surgeries and only a month after her attack Bethany continued on the road to becoming a professional surfer. Now at the age of  20 Bethany is a professional surfer and wishes to become a beacon of hope and inspiration to children everywhere.  Millions were and still continue to be touched by Bethany’s story. On October 24th Bethany told her life story in her autobiography called “Soul Surfer.”  Recently Soul Surfer has been made into a major motion picture and is premiering April 10th. Staring AnnaSophia Robb as Bethany Hamilton, this movie is said to be an absolute hit, pushing an “anything is possible” attitude towards children of all ages. Coming to theaters near you very soon go see this movie and see the story of a truly strong girl.

Greys Anatomy - Musical Episode

Did yall' see last night’s Greys Anatomy Musical Episode? I did, I have watched the episode a few times and really enjoyed it but never got into the series. I think that the "music" takes the seriousness from the show. It reminds me of the FOX show Glee, where a high school glee club sings certain songs pertaining to that week’s topic. Buddy TV had said that all songs were not successful. I thought some of the songs were good but the overall show was silly. I’m not sure if the “music event” will continue but they should only include very few songs. In the recent episode there were a lot of songs packed into the episode. Buddy TV had also said that in a traditional “musical” characters build up emotion and release it through a song. Most characters on this week’s episode had much stress, such as dealing with a patient that was pregnant and having to decide which one to save. Half way into the episode the happy “music” starts and the mood of the episode is changed. The patient and her baby are saved. I think that they should not continue with the “musical.” The show is very successful and viewers that don’t like this “musical” episode might stop watching Greys Anatomy.
